Norges idrettshøyskole fjerner de fysiske opptaksprøvene.
Norges idrettshøyskole har frem til nå vært den eneste utdanningsinstitusjonen som tilbyr idrettsstudier med krav om fysisk opptaksprøve for å komme inn på skolen. Nå vil høyskolen fjerne denne ordningen.
Styret på Norges idrettshøyskole har vedtatt at de skal fjerne kravet om fysisk opptaksprøve for nye studenter fra høsten av. Høyskolen har opplevd en nedgang i søkertall og spesielt blant jenter.
Vi måtte gjøre noe for å styrke rekrutteringen vår. Karaktersnittet har også gått ned de siste årene, akkurat nå er det vanskeligere å komme inn på de andre institusjonene for idrettsutdanning enn på NIH. Vi er den største og den faglig sterkeste institusjonen for idrettsutdanning i Norge og ønsker å være den mest faglig attraktive.
Dette sier rektor på Idrettshøyskolen, Sigmund Loland. Han påpeker at det å være i fysisk form er viktig for å studere på idrettshøyskolen, spesielt på førsteåret, og sier at de ikke er interessert i å senke faglige krav.
Når det gjelder opptaksprøven så er vi i tvil om dens relevans. Det å teste disse fysiske ferdighetene er bare relevant for en del av vårt studium, vi mener derfor at det må være studentenes eget ansvar å stille godt forberedt til studiene. Vi er opptatt av at studentene kan lære igjennom studiet.
Videre sier Loland at de er redd for å miste potensielle studenter som ikke ønsker å gå igjennom opptaksprøven, de opplever den kanskje som veldig prestasjons og konkuranseorientert.
Vi er redd for at dette gjelder spesielt mange jenter. Fordi jenteandelen på Norges idrettshøyskole har gått ned de siste årene. Nå, på grunnstudiet vårt er er jenteandelen nede i 30 prosent. Det er en utvikling vi jobber hardt for å stoppe.
Om det å fjerne den fysiske opptaksprøven er en beslutning som vil gjøre at Norges idrettshøyskole vil tiltrekke seg flere søkere, det gjenstår å se.
